Crees Que El Amor Ideal Existe?/ Do You Believe in True Love?

Crees Que El Amor Ideal Existe?

Do You Believe in True Love?

I believe in love, in a way in which I think the world doesn’t believe in anymore.

It is something that seems impossible at times, but there is something inside me that tells me that it is possible, that this is the way love should be.

And in these words I will talk about romantic love, not about the love for our parents or the love for our children, nor the love for our friends, because those are completely different types of love.

I write this article to make a call to those who think that love is how I will describe it. Because I want to confirm that what I think is not fantasy but reality.

For me, when I love someone, that person is, in my eyes, wonderful. And I can see in them all their beautiful qualities as well as their flaws. But these flaws are also beautiful. Things can make us angry, and there are things we would never allow, but those are the things that are just on the surface, like burnt toast the top part that we scrape off before we eat it. The flaws are burnt slices of toast, and we simply scrape them and eat it. So it is not bad enough to throw away.

For me, the ideal of a partner is someone who complements you, someone who is your equal and your opposite at the same time. This is something that makes credible the theory that we are equal and opposite parts of the same soul.

And maybe not everyone accepts this theory, many people think that when we choose a mate, we have to stay with them, even if we don’t feel what I am describing, because we believe that perfect love is a myth. And when I say perfect, I don’t mean that there are no imperfections, but that the imperfections are not important enough to cause a disaster. They are not deal breakers.

And I think that, if I am able to feel this, there must be more people in this world that are able to feel this kind of love too.

But there is another problem, and is that there are in this world sick people who become obsessed with a person and they think they are feeling this love that I am describing, but this is not love. The difference exists in that the sick and obsessed person is not willing to let the person they love free, but they want to suffocate them, and cling to them and they make demands and wishes, and they cry and beg. But that is not love.

You should never beg for love, or request it. Love is given freely. You either feel love or you don’t. But it is something that can’t be thought with the brain. The brain is not the one who decides, because love is not logic, and many times it doesn’t make sense at all, but our spirit, our soul is the one that can really truly tell us if we love, or not. We often think that it is impossible to love a certain person because that person is not adequate according to what society tells us. Maybe we had a plan of life and that person turns our plans upside down and changes the course of our lives completely. We mistakenly think that if that person does not fit into our original plan then it can’t be the person we should allow ourselves to love.

But if you're in this dilemma, and you are thinking that it is not possible to love someone that doesn’t fit in your original plan, then I ask you to imagine your life, in your original plan REMOVING that person completely from your life. Make a decision between your original plan, and that person that completely changes your plan.

Close your eyes and imagine your life without that person, how everything would change. And if you can be happy, completely erasing that person from your life, then you don’t love them.  And that's your answer. And if that person does love you, and you realize that you can erase them from your life and be happy, then you should set them free, cutting completely all communication with them. But of course, tell them that is what you are doing, don’t leave them without an answer because if they love the way I am describing, then they will wait forever.  It may sound horrible, but if a person who loves you with the intensity I describe, and you do not love them back, the only way that that person can get you out of their soul is if they don’t ever see you again.

But if you can’t remove them completely from your life, and you feel it’s impossible to be happy, then you have to do another exercise of imagination. Imagine you allow this person into your life and destroy your original plan. Don’t think about others when you do this exercise, just think of that person and you. Imagine that the opinion of the world will be favorable, your friends, your family, everyone will be happy with your decision. Then imagine your life in a new plan. How do you feel?

Imagine all goes well, in an alternate plan. Does that make you feel happy? Would you be willing to fight for your happiness even if the world is against you?

When love is genuine, we are able to fight the world just to be happy. But if we try to make others happy, to be content with what we think others want, or so as to not hurt another person, we are able to stay the rest of our days with a person who doesn’t makes us happy.

The ideal person is one with which you are not afraid to be yourself, which accepts you with all your flaws, someone who takes care of you, who thinks you're the most wonderful person in the universe. They look at you and don’t mind touching your boogers, and don’t mind cleaning your vomit, or care to hear your farts, or your snoring, someone who accepts you even though you drool on the pillow, and go to the bathroom in front of them. Someone who wants the best for you, and wants you to achieve your dreams and supports you in your ideas, and your madness, someone who is there for you at any time.

This kind of love is what we aspire to achieve. Someone who loves you back, someone you don’t need to beg for their love. Someone who has the guts to love you, even when the world is against it. Because doing what society tells you is easy. Difficult is to fight for what we want when it is an uphill battle. But please understand that when we fight for something that matters to us, even though it’s difficult, when you get there, the reward will be even bigger.

Now I call out to all of you who have felt a love like the one I describe. I want to know I'm not the only one who thinks that way.
