Obesity And Food, And The Ideal Body Type/La Obesidad Y La Comida Y El Tipo De Cuerpo Ideal

Obesity And Food, And The Ideal Body Type

The world has created an idea of how the body of a woman should look. These ideas are based on the ideas presented to the world by magazines and movies. Films that have tall, slender, athletic women with beautiful long hair, makeup etc. That's the idea of the perfect woman, a model.

This is very different from the images you see in the paintings of the past, those paintings that are in museums that have voluptuous woman as the norm of that time period.

Peter Paul Rubens - The Three Graces

Then there are women like me who to be considered to be at a "normal" weight today, according to my height, I’m told I should lose about 30 pounds.

But there is something that bothers me about the people who decide to give me their opinion about my weight. Because people assume I spend all my time eating, and not only that, but that I spend it eating sweets, chocolates, fatty things, fried food etc. Well let me tell you something, that's not the case.

I was never skinny, as a teen I was size 8 and by my 20’s, I was a slimmer size 6 in clothes, and I am currently a size 10/12, a size that in many stores is still considered medium size.

But even when I was a size 6, I was criticized by my weight. When I first came from Puerto Rico to New York, my coworkers made fun of me because I was a size 6 and the place I worked at had to special order my uniform because it was rare that anyone had that size. My coworkers were size zero or size two, so to them, I was practically a cow.

Each person has a different body type and with that we grow and we must accept it as is.
I think the weight of a person doesn’t matter as long as the person is healthy. And I have no medical problem related to my size.

I gained weight in my two pregnancies and with each I was left with few extra pounds that I have not been able to lose since I had my second daughter nine years ago.

I eat whatever I want, and I remain the same size, yet people tell me to stop eating so much, to watch what I eat, etc. And I tell you to please don’t give me your opinion, unless you are a medical professional or an expert in nutrition who thinks you can truly help me.

I basically only eat chicken, I rarely eat rice, rarely eat pasta, I do not cook fried things. I rarely eat at fast food places and almost never eat burgers and that kind of thing. I eat pizza a couple of times a month and whatever I eat, I always stay the same.

People tell me to eat salad, I try that, they tell me to avoid soda, I avoid it, to avoid rice, pasta, chocolates, they tell me to eat oatmeal, to eat things with lots of fiber, lots of water, to take a colon cleanse etc.

Let me tell you that I have two conditions that make me live my life in a way that prevent me from taking the advice that everyone gives me.

I can’t eat eggs, or anything with lots of fiber, I can’t drink much milk, I can’t eat oatmeal, I hardly eat bread or brown rice or those things that are high in fiber, or bananas, or any of those things that people recommend that I eat to lose weight, I can’t eat those things because they make me sick.

The things that I can eat are so limited to that it makes me hate food.

Why do I hate the food? Because I am so sick and tired of having to eat the same thing all the time, because there are so many things that I can’t eat and the variety of food that I can eat is very limited.

So, do you think I should stop eating? That I should keep my mouth closed? I wish I could! If I could stop eating altogether I would, because the only reason I eat is because it is necessary to survive.

So it bothers me when people tell me that I should eat less.

Anytime I find someone or some place that cooks a meal that really gives me pleasure to eat it, something that is really rare, then let me tell you all, that there is nothing in the world that will make me eliminate from my diet those few things that really make me reconsider my hate of food.

I have tried nutritionists, celebrity chefs, cookbooks, diets, everything. But I've never found anyone who can help me. If I eat little, I stay the same, if I exercise, I stay the same, if I take away things from my diet, I stay the same, and if I eat certain other things, I get sick. So I opted to only eat what I tolerate, and what I like.

What opinion do I have of my body? Do I think I should lose weight? A little, yes. But not because I consider that I look bad, or that I'm doing harm to my health, because my fat legs and voluptuous ass have always been like that and I want them to stay like that. But if I want to lose a bit of weight and it's because someday I would like to have more children and as I know this is going to make me gain a little more weight, I want to lose some so that I can be as I am now after some future pregnancy. So nothing else.

There are many women who want slim bodies for the wrong reasons. I would never lose weight for a man, because the man who is going to love me must love me just as I am, in the same way that I love myself as I am, with my little fat rolls and all.

We must accept our bodies as they are, with large breasts or small, large or small rear ends, just as they are.

If you want to lose weight do it because it is something that you really want to do, not because you consider that it is what you should do based on the opinion of others or society.
That there are people who like to eat a lot and then they're getting fat to a point that is harmful to their health? I don’t deny it, but people who are outside of your world seeing you and judging you and giving you their opinions about what they think you should do about your bodies then I believe that they should not talk without knowing what the other person is going through.

I urge you to tell me your stories, tell me if you have ever felt judged by your body and what has been their experience.

Tell us your story.

Y yo no tengo ningún problema médico relacionado a mi tamaño.
