Is Staying High OK?

A few days ago I was listening to local radio and after listening to several songs one song caught my attention because it talked about drugs and alcohol as something normal and common in society today. In my opinion, in this day and age, people who think that way are those who do not have any respect or value their lives.

The song is “Stay High by Tove Lo” and it says:

" Spend my days locked in a haze
Trying to forget you babe
I fall back down
Gotta stay high all my life
To forget I'm missing you"

If we see the video, the girl is engaging in questionable behavior, alcohol, drugs, promiscuity, all because her boyfriend left her. She is saying that she has to be drugged all her life to bear the loss of her partner.

 
If it was up to me, I would prohibit that type of songs on the radio, because although they have a nice melody, you are telling today's youth that it's okay to use drugs. What kind of value are they giving to their lives if they think they don’t have the strength to survive an emotional break with someone? 

I wonder, what is this world coming to if what teens want today is to have out of control fun and promiscuity and they don’t care what happens next? 

If we allow songs like these to continue on the radio calling teenagers to use drugs, alcohol and be promiscuous, they're showing them that this behavior is completely normal and there will be no consequences if they do that sort of thing. This is not what we want our youth to learn.

You as a parent, child, friend, etc., I invite you to create awareness to all of those you see around you that are going in the wrong direction in their lives, help them to turn around their lives and show them that this is not the right way.

Esta Bien Mantenerse Endrogado? 

Unos días atrás, estuve escuchando la radio local y pasaron varias canciones hasta llegar una que me llamó mucho la atención ya que hablaba de drogas y alcohol como si fuera algo normal y común en la sociedad de hoy día, algo que a mi punto de vista y crianza es para personas que no quieren sus vidas.

La canción es “Permanecer Alta de Tove Lo” y dice:

“Paso mis días encerrados en una nube
Tratando de olvidarte nene
Me caigo abajo
Tengo que permanecer alta durante toda mi vida
Para olvidar que te he perdido”

Si vemos el video, la muchacha está participando en conductas cuestionables, alcohol, drogas, libertinaje, todo porque el novio la dejó. Ella está expresando que tiene que estar toda su vida endrogada para poder soportar la pérdida de su pareja.

Yo por mi parte prohibiría ese tipo de canciones en la radio, porque aunque tienen una linda melodía, le están dando la idea a la juventud de hoy de que está bien usar drogas. ¿Qué poco valor se están dando a sí mismos si piensan que no tienen fuerzas suficientes para sobrevivir una rotura emocional con alguien?

Ahora me pregunto, ¿Dónde llegara la diversión sin control y el libertinaje que hoy día los adolescentes desean y no les importa lo que suceda después?  

Si permitimos que canciones como esas sigan en la radio llamando a los adolescentes a consumir drogas, alcohol y ser promiscuos, les estamos mostrando a ellos que es algo completamente normal y que no habrá ningún tipo de consecuencias si ellos hacen ese tipo de cosas. Esto no es lo que queremos que aprenda nuestra juventud.

Tú como padre, hijo, amigo, etc., te invito a crearle conciencia a todos aquellos que veas en malos pasos y ayudarlos a entrar en razón y mostrarles que ese no es el camino correcto.
