Black Friday

Yesterday was Thanksgiving, the day that even though it's origin does not apply to people from other countries, and many people have no interest in it, but is now a day that has been called the official day to give thanks to God for what we have, yet then we come the next day and become wild beasts on Black Friday.
 
Black Friday is the day that many will spend all night in stores buying Christmas presents in a tradition that many years has brought countless tragedies where people go crazy with the idea that they need to get the best prices around on anything.
 
This leads me to think about the Christmas traditions, which started as a good original intention of sharing with friends and give back to others and has become a tradition that makes many people spend money they do not have on gifts that may end in the back of a closet and forgotten. That's because many people feel obligated to give and go crazy looking for things to give but fail to take the time required to give something that comes from the heart, something that will be truly appreciated.

In my opinion the gifts should be done at any time of the year no matter what day it is, provided that they come from the heart and are thoughtful.
 
We should put a Stop on buying things to just to buy things and stop contributing to the accumulation problem that many people have.

I'm not saying it’s bad to give things at Christmas, because there are people that are in need of many things and it is a blessing to receive something. But I go back and repeat, charity, kindness, love, affection, gifts, etc., must be given all year round with heart in hand and with a lot of feeling.

 Viernes Negro

Ayer era el Día de Acción de Gracias. Un día que a pesar de que el origen no aplica a personas de otros países y muchas personas no tienen interés en él, pero se ha convertido en día que se ha denominado el día oficial de dar gracias a Dios por lo que tenemos para después venir al día siguiente y convertirse en fieras salvajes en el Viernes Negro.

Viernes Negro es el día en el que muchos se amanecen en las tiendas comprando los regalos de navidad en una tradición que muchos años ha traído un sinnúmero de tragedias donde la gente se vuelve loca con la idea de que necesitan obtener los mejores precios en todo. 

Esto me lleva a pensar en las tradiciones de Navidad, que comenzaron como una buena intención original de compartir con familiares y ser dadivosos y se ha convertido en una tradición que hace que muchas personas gasten dinero que no tienen en regalos que posiblemente terminen en el olvido. Eso sucede porque muchas personas se sienten en la obligación de regalar y se van locas buscando especiales en cosas para regalar pero sin tomar el tiempo que se requiere para obsequiar algo que salga del corazón.  Algo que vaya a ser valorado verdaderamente. 

En mi opinión los regalos se deben hacer en cualquier momento del año sin importar que día es con tal de que sean del corazón y bien pensados.

Basta ya de comprar cosas por comprar cosas y contribuir al problema de acumulación que tienen muchas personas.

No digo que es malo regalar en Navidades, porque hay personas que si necesitan de algo que les alegre el día y hay personas que tienen escasez de mucho y es una bendición recibir algo. Pero vuelvo y reitero, la caridad, la bondad, el amor, el cariño,  los regalos, se deben dar a cualquier momento del año con el corazón en mano y con mucho sentimiento. 

¿Qué ustedes opinan? Si pudiera usted eliminar la tradición de dar regalos en navidad y cambiarla por regalar a cualquier momento del año, ¿lo haría?

Thanksgiving /Día de Acción de Gracias

Thanksgiving

Yesterday I was at my daughter’s School and noticed a Paper tree with Paper Leaves pasted in the wall of the school. Each leaf had notes made by the kids saying what they were grateful for. I started reading them and you could read things like: “I’m grateful for my family, I love my daddy”, “I am grateful for my brother” and even an “I am grateful for my name, because I like it”. But there was one leaf that shocked me. It said: “I am grateful for Thanksgiving because if it wasn’t for thanksgiving we could not be grateful for the things we have” 

If it wasn’t for THANKSGIVING, we could NOT be grateful!!!!

You will have to excuse me, but had I been the teacher of that child, I would have had a talk with him and explain to him that we CAN be grateful every single day of our lives, and we should. Thanksgiving doesn’t give us that privilege. I would have explained the concept to the child and made him change his answer. I don’t think I am being crazy for thinking that. What do you think??

This brings me to another question, who are we thanking on Thanksgiving? We celebrate this holiday, which is supposed to be a holiday to give thanks for the things and people we have in our lives. But who are we thanking? To me, I am thanking God. It is the only logical thing for me. We owe everything to God. But I know that there are Atheist people who celebrate Thanksgiving and it makes me wonder, who they give thanks to? They are grateful in general, some people say to me. But I honestly believe that when you feel grateful you are being grateful to someone, to something, to some higher power beyond us. We are not thankful to ourselves for being awesome.

So I ask you this question. What are you grateful for this thanksgiving? Who are you thanking for that?

Día de Acción de Gracias

Ayer estuve en la escuela de mi hija y me di cuenta de un árbol de papel con hojas de papel pegadas en la pared de la escuela. Cada hoja tenía anotaciones hechas por los niños diciendo las cosas por lo que estaban agradecidos. Empecé a leerlos y se podía leer cosas como: "Estoy agradecido por mi familia, amo a mi papá", "Estoy agradecido por mi hermano", e incluso una escribió, "Estoy agradecido por mi nombre, porque me gusta”. Pero había una hoja que me impactó. Decía: "Estoy muy agradecido por el Día de Acción de Gracias, porque si no fuera por el día de acción de gracias que no podríamos estar agradecido por las cosas que tenemos" 

¿Si no fuera por el día Acción de Gracias, no podríamos estar agradecidos ??!!!!

Ustedes tendrán que perdonarme, pero si yo hubiera sido el maestro de ese niño, yo habría tenido una charla con él y le explicaría que nosotros podemos estar agradecidos todos los días de nuestras vidas, y debemos hacerlo. El Día de Acción de Gracias no nos da ese privilegio. Yo le hubiese explicado el concepto al niño y le hubiese hecho que cambiara su respuesta. No creo que esté siendo loca por pensar eso. ¿Qué piensas?

Esto me lleva a otra pregunta, ¿a quién estamos agradeciendo en el Día de Acción de Gracias? Celebramos esta fiesta, que se supone que es un día de fiesta para dar gracias por las cosas y las personas que tenemos en nuestras vidas. Pero ¿a quién estamos agradeciendo? Para mí, yo agradezco a Dios. Es la única cosa lógica para mí. Todo se lo debemos a Dios. Pero sé que hay personas ateas que celebran Acción de Gracias y que hace que me pregunte, ¿a qué le dan las gracias? Están agradecidos en general, algunas personas me dicen. Pero, sinceramente, creo que cuando te sientes agradecido es porque estamos agradeciendo a alguien, a algo, a un poder superior más allá de nosotros. No estamos agradecidos a nosotros mismos por ser tan geniales.

Así que les hago esta pregunta. ¿Qué agradeces en este día de acción de gracias? ¿A quién estás dando las gracias por eso?
